Why you weigh differently on other planets

Your weight is the force gravity pulls on your body, and every planet pulls with a different strength. Your mass, the amount of matter in you, never changes; only your weight does. This calculator multiplies your Earth weight by each body's surface gravity relative to Earth, using standard NASA values.

On the Moon you would weigh about a sixth of your Earth weight; on Jupiter, roughly two and a half times as much.

Would I weigh more on Jupiter?

Yes, about 2.5 times your Earth weight, because Jupiter's surface gravity is roughly 2.53 times Earth's.

Does my mass change on other planets?

No. Mass is the same everywhere. Only weight, the pull of gravity on that mass, changes from planet to planet.

What would I weigh on the Moon?

About 16.6% of your Earth weight, since the Moon's gravity is roughly one sixth of Earth's.

Uses standard NASA surface-gravity ratios. "Weight" here is the everyday sense of the force you would feel.
