Counting the days between dates
The number of days between two dates is the end date minus the start date. Whether you count the last day depends on what you're measuring: for a hotel stay you usually count nights (end day excluded), while for the length of an event you might include both ends. The toggle here lets you switch, so the same two dates can give either count.
Days, weeks, and years-months-days
The total in days is the exact answer, but it's often easier to read as weeks plus days, or as a calendar breakdown of years, months and days. This tool shows all three at once — handy for ages, anniversaries, deadlines, contract terms and notice periods.
Leap years are handled for you
Because the calculation works directly on the calendar dates, leap days are counted automatically. You don't need to add or subtract anything for February 29 — it's already included in the total.
Frequently asked questions
Should I include the end day?
It depends on the purpose. For nights between check-in and check-out, leave it off. For the full span of an event that runs on both the first and last day, turn it on.
Does it count leap years?
Yes. The result is based on the real calendar, so February 29 in leap years is included automatically.
